Comedy Week

March 25, 2009

I’ve got lots of comedy planned this week – the last week of the Glasgow Comedy Festival. Lastnight we went to see a rehearsal reading of ‘Odds and Sods’ (written by Tom Brogan and Fraser Campbell from You Owe Me Glue) which was really enjoyable although the night ended badly when I got home and realised I had lost one of my house keys so had to drive back over to the Merchant City to get Brian, in the pissing rain and I have a cold.

Tonight we’re going to see Rob Brydon in the Royal Concert Hall. On Friday, we’re off to see Jerry Sadowitz at The Kings (I’m glad I’m not sitting down the front for that). Finally, on Saturday we’re going to see Kevin Bridges in Oran Mor. This time last year Brian was performing at Oran Mor so it’ll be good to go this time with no nerves. Over and out.

Twitter

March 2, 2009

Well seen as Brian is on Twitter now I thought I might as well have a go myself. I’m following Brian and Demi Moore at the moment. It’s so funny to read normal, wee random updates by Demi Moore.

No one is following me yet, I can’t really imagine why anyone would want to follow me but if you do then here I am:

Oh yes, if anyone knows of any good celebs on Twitter please let me know.

A New Kitchen

February 26, 2009

We’ve got kitchen designers coming out tonight to give us a ‘no obligation quote’ with free computer generated design of how our new kitchen will look.

I’ve heard many horror stories about bullying sales people being in the house for hours, not leaving until they get a signature, giving you a ridiculously high price then phoning up their managers to get a ‘great discount’, bad-mouthing other kitchen companies etc etc but I’m ready for them, I’ve got everything prepared, ‘I will not be making a decision tonight’ will be the first words out my mouth. Anyway, I’m keeping an open mind and let’s just see how it goes.

The company we have coming out tonight is Moben kitchens, anyone had any dealings with them? Has anyone had a good experience with a kitchen company?

I’m hungry

February 9, 2009

I’m going to make my dinner. It will be my special pasta which is macaroni with tinned tomatoes mixed through it and grated, cheddar cheese melted over the top (3 minutes in the microwave) – if you think that sounds crap, well you’re very wrong. It’s delish.

Come Dine With Me

January 30, 2009

This is one of my favourite programmes on TV and it has been for a long time. I watched it way back in the day before it hit the big time. The format of the show’s perfect, you have real people cooking a 3 course meal for 4 strangers who come to their house and the next night someone else cooks and so on, then they all vote who was best. The voice over guy’s wit and sarcasm also add to the show. But…

What Channel 4 have done with the latest series is taken all the good bits of the show and exaggerated them so the focus is now on stupid contestants who can’t really cook getting the piss taken out of them by the voice over guy. Also, the show is edited so that the contestants look like they are fighting with each other all the time. It’s like Big Brother with cooking.

What was previously one of the best bits of the show – the sarcy voice over guy – is now quite irritating as he make a sarcastic comment or an exaggerated hmmm or huff sound every time the contestants speak or do anything. I still like the show but it’s annoying, why can’t they just leave a good format alone?

Will Smith’s new film, Seven Pounds

January 26, 2009

I urge you not to see this unless you like overly sentimental, lot’s of close-ups with people staring deeply into each other’s eyes, emotional music softly playing in the background throughout the whole film, basic storyline drawn out over 2 hours types of films, then you might like it.
