Comedy Week

By Lynn

I’ve got lots of comedy planned this week – the last week of the Glasgow Comedy Festival. Lastnight we went to see a rehearsal reading of ‘Odds and Sods’ (written by Tom Brogan and Fraser Campbell from You Owe Me Glue) which was really enjoyable although the night ended badly when I got home and realised I had lost one of my house keys so had to drive back over to the Merchant City to get Brian, in the pissing rain and I have a cold.

Tonight we’re going to see Rob Brydon in the Royal Concert Hall. On Friday, we’re off to see Jerry Sadowitz at The Kings (I’m glad I’m not sitting down the front for that). Finally, on Saturday we’re going to see Kevin Bridges in Oran Mor. This time last year Brian was performing at Oran Mor so it’ll be good to go this time with no nerves. Over and out.

I love Rob Brydon. I havent seen him doing stand up mind you but found him really funny in anything he’s been in.. Have you seen Human Remains? He wrote & stars in it with Julia Davis. Anyway one to watch. If you like Nighty Night then you’ll probably love this too.

Well Jen, Rob Brydon was really brilliant lastnight. I was laughing heartily for most of the show – he improvised a lot of it based on banter with the audience. He told jokes, sang and done impressions, such a pro! If you ever get the chance to see him live I would definitely recommend you go.

I don’t think I’ve seen Human Remains, I must look it out as I did like Nighty Night.

Aha – welcome back to BlogLand … thought we’d lost you to Twitter.

Jerry Sadowitz didn’t really make me laugh, well I laughed a couple of times but I think I kind of forced the laughs out a bit. I was expecting him to be scary and cool with an ‘I don’t give a fuck’ attitude but he was quite hyper and shouty and I found it hard to make out what he was saying a lot of the time. He was shouting everything out before you had a chance to digest it. The show would probably be hilarious in a more intimate venue where you can see the magic tricks better, slight -of-hand card tricks aren’t as effective when you’re up in the gallery of The Kings. 5 out of 10.

Rob Brydon, 10 out of 10.

I saw Kevin Bridges last night, And he was brilliant, I think he is better than frankie Boyle.

I LOVE Kevin Bridges. I have the ‘you’re going to something tonight that I want to go to but wasn’t savvy enough to get tickets on time’ envy.

    Hi Lynn,

Don’t know if your dear ‘other half’ has mentioned to you about this “Secret Wars” art thingmajiggy this Friday (10th April) at Glasgow School of Art. It’s my mate that’s running it, and he emailed Limmy, who replied saying that he might be going.

It would be great if you could both manage to trundle along for a wee while.

It’s Scotland Vs England so come on down to represent the bravehearts (Mel Gibson not included)

Hi Alison, he did mention it but I had already made other plans so we can’t make it, hope it all goes well.
