Cracking. Congratulations to all of you, especially Boomer
February 19, 2009 at 9:27 am |
Thanks, you should have seen the smile on my face when Boomer was on, how cute was he?! Brian was quite cute too
February 19, 2009 at 9:29 am |
Thanks Erin, I am very proud.

A few bits I loved:-
1. The bed invention sketch.
2. The sudden wake-up sketch.
3. Slapping the kid on the bus.
February 19, 2009 at 10:17 am |
Tom, I think my favourite was the wee guy on the bus sketch, I also really liked the end on the bike although I know that wasn’t really a sketch.
February 19, 2009 at 11:41 am |
Mr. Mulvaney and the wee boy on the bus were the stand-outs for me.
February 19, 2009 at 12:28 pm |
It was great – congratulations to you both!
My sis was watching it in France with a couple of pals, and it was a thumbs up all round. She told me that my 6 year old nephew woke up this morning and his first words were ‘kerplunk’ – think she needs to shut the bedroom door when she’s watching TV!

Lynn, he was BRILLIANT! I thought the ‘Shawshank’ thing was a scream – so mental and surreal and the bus sketch was pure gold.
It was really polished and really funny and fresh.
When Boomer came on I was jumping up and down going ‘that’s THEIR dog, that’s THEIR actual dog’. Steve thought I’d gone insane
You need to take some of the credit though. Behind every great man there’s a great woman…
February 19, 2009 at 3:29 pm |
Watched it as soon as I got in last night, it was brilliant! Swings is definitely my favourite – I thought I’d seen it loads before, but I think I must have just saw it at the Fringe show and remembered it vividly from then. Jacqueline McCafferty was fabulous too. I was in stitches at that in Edinburgh!
I really hope he gets a series Lynn, I really do. There’s so much other stuff that could get used. Did either of you sleep last night after all the excitement and adrenaline? I’d have sat up all night reading every review/comment everywhere!
I counted a few ‘fucks’ I think, but can’t recall any ‘cunts’. It was weird to not hear as much swearing!
Lynn he needs to get the merchandise situation sorted! I’d buy a Requiem bag in an instant! Get him telt!
February 19, 2009 at 3:37 pm |
Thanks for the comments ladies.
I was totally shattered by the time I went to bed, I felt like I had a hangover or something. Brian stayed up for a bit to check all the feedback, it seems like most of it’s really good and constructive critisicm too which is helpful.
There was going to be a ‘cunt’ in it but it ws taken out at the last minute.
I will take some of the credit then Fiona, seen as you’re offering it
KERPLUNK!
February 19, 2009 at 6:24 pm |
I thought it was good Lynn I laughed out loud at quite a few bits.I like the Shoplifting executive a lot and the Bruce Springsteen dance,it all worked well.
I hope it is a series as I think Joe Public needs time to get used to Limmy’s more edgey/surreal type of humour.
I mean prior to Limmy the Scottish Public’s only sketch show was Chewing the fat and I would say 80% of that was pish.So it was a definite success.
Anyway,Good Luck.

February 19, 2009 at 7:53 pm |
I got a text today from a friend saying everyone at her college was talking about it today , and before last nyt they hadnt herd of “Limmy” thats got to be good
Really hope he gets a series
February 19, 2009 at 9:35 pm |
Really loved it esp. the Bruce Springsteen bit for some reason! You must be awfy proud Lynn
February 19, 2009 at 11:01 pm |
I couldny hear masel think over on Limmy’s blog so this seems to be where the regulars hang out!
My congratulations to the two of you, get ready for a lot more handshaking in the Buchanan Galleries.
Everything worked well, but probably needed more than half an hour for a real impact, and I’m sure you both agree.
Mr. Mulvaney was fantastic. Hilarious and spookily close to home for anyone who’s ever been paranoid at the sight of a polis.
Limmy seems to have completely lightened up on the show. It was still pretty dark in places, but he doesn’t seem like the same evil bastard from Requiem or on other online videos.
There’s no doubt it will work as a series, and it will be a lot funnier when people get to know the characters and their personalities. But whether Aunty is up for a full series or no is still up for debate suppose.
See if it doesn’t become a series, one door closes and another one opens. Mibbe even a windae.

Thanks claresey and Derek Stillie.
I hope it does get a series, like you say Derek, it’s difficult to show what Brian’s all about in just 30 minutes plus it was his first time working with a production company and to time constraints so there’s definitely room for improvement, which Brian knows. For a first time effort though, I think it was great.
February 22, 2009 at 5:24 pm |
I watched it again on youtube, and liked it even more the second time. Which surprised me, as I thought my excitement would wane. I was the same with the Mighty Boosh – completely different show, but similar in the quirkiness of it if that makes sense. I think Limmy’s show will definitely be a grower for some people.
Lynn I’ve just emailed Brian something I’ve been meaning to for ages, go and have a wee look!
I have been procrastinating like a motherfucker today, the treadmill is glaring at me, willing me to get on it. I’m still in my pyjamas though, I’m fighting it…..
February 23, 2009 at 9:32 am |
Lynn, I’m doing a post on my blog with the email address for BBC Scotland so folk can write and demand a series. This is the address anyway (sure YOU already know it
)
enquiries.scot@bbc.co.uk
If all the folk that left positive comments on Brian’s blog would just send a couple of wee lines then I’m sure it would make an impression on the powers that be. And if they give Brian a series it means they have less money to spend on pish like ‘Monarch of the Glen’. Win/win scenario
February 23, 2009 at 12:27 pm |
Hi Tiffany, I know what you mean, I think Brian’s stuff does get better the more you watch it. He told me about the email
maybe he’ll get round to doing something like that one day!
bakerka23, I’ve just emailed them. Thanks for the tip.
February 23, 2009 at 9:02 pm |
Hi Lynn
Thanks for sending the email reminding me of the TX date. I’ll watch it again tonight – it was the strangest thing seeing brian on the tv, having not seen any of the stand up over the last coupla years. But hey congrats, really hope BBC picks this up. Studio consensus was – funny, twisted, want more.
February 24, 2009 at 9:31 am |
‘funny, twisted, want more’ – excellent review!
Cheers Kenny.

Lynn, I got an email back from them;
“Dear Fiona
Thank you for your e-mail regarding ‘Limmy’s Show’.
I am pleased to read that you enjoyed the programme and that you would like to see more of it in a series. I will be more than happy to forward your kind comments to producers as well as senior management. Feedback of this kind is always welcome and I am sure all who work on the programme will appreciate your kind words.
Thank you for taking the trouble to write and for very kind feedback.
Regards
Mark

Second time round I seemed to like….

So good I can’t see it going to a series. It was acemo.
I cried so hard I laughed, the other way round.
